Constant Companion (Available)
Constant Companion 16x20 mixed media acrylic, and 24k gold leaf on masonite board. Artist Statement: This painting was originally designed to be included on the interior of the box cover of Bristol 1350, but in light of the pandemic it was decided to take a slightly different approach and the Friar took it's place. This instead became a Kickstarter exclusive card included as the very last stretch goal that was reached in the campaign as well as a print with silver foil available as an add-on in the post campaign survey. This piece included elements from each remedy card and was meant to convey the essence of the mood of Bristol 1350. It was foiled with genuine 24k Gold Leaf to give it that extra medieval flair. |

The Serf (Available)
Serf. 8x10 Acrylic, charcoal, and faux gold on Masonite Board. Artist Statement: Imagine looking for security and coming face to face with death instead... "Serf" is a near and dear piece to me as it was the very first one I completed in the Bristol 1350 series. It was completed in October of 2019 well before the outbreak of Covid-19 began, and it was done without consideration of any of the sensitivities that might exist today, but I think that's what now makes this painting so raw. For me, it hits some notes on the anxieties we might be feeling, for example, when we look to family for our security or safety net, but one of them could be carriers of a disease, or worse, we could be carriers and visiting someone we love could put them at risk. It's not a comfortable feeling, but it's one that has grown in relatability these last few months. I know others will input their own interpretations no matter what, but for me, this is a reflection of our current reality and it is scary, but coming to accept what is taking place is healing. When I feel fear, I remind myself, there are people out there, who are risking their lives to keep everyone else fed and healthy, or in other words still working the fields. So while fear is rampant, we must not let it tear our societies apart. There are still so many good things happening in the world and I hope we can find ways to remind ourselves of our common humanity and do what we can to serve and unify our fellow man. Sheriff. 8x10 Acrylic, charcoal, on Masonite Board. Artist Statement: For the greater good we must temporarily give up a few freedoms to save lives, and we will gladly do so, but how long is temporary? The Chandler (Available)
Chandler. 8x10 Acrylic, charcoal, on Masonite Board. Artist Statement: The candle maker. This was the first painting done for the second set of 9 for the series. I had just gotten back from a week long intensive Art conference and was absolutely pumped to get painting, but little did I know that I was painting this while actively symptomatic with Covid 19. In fact, I had started designing all of these second set character cards while symptomatic with covid. I tested positive on the 26th of March. These were completed shortly after one by one through out April and May. The day after testing positive for covid, I took a pregnancy test and that came back positive. I was 6 weeks along at the time. So once covid symptoms subsided, pregnancy symptoms began and morning sickness kicked in. Talk about hitting home doing plague themed artwork. I mean the timing itself is already crazy. I will say though, if you are a backer and decide to reserve this piece I don't believe you will contract the coronavirus from me, but I make no promises! Maybe that's why she looks so devious. The Beggar (Available)
Beggar. 8x10 Acrylic on Masonite Board KS Exclusive Artist Statement: Beggar's can't be choosers... **Note the color difference in the original vs the version included in the game. Digital color adjustments were made to meet the needs of the game, but were not made on the physical painting.** The Bard (Available)
Bard. 8x10 Acrylic on Masonite Board KS exclusive Artist Statement: The song must go on.. This one was created during the campaign and was commissioned by one of our backers who wanted to be in the game as a Cameo! It also lined up perfectly with Facade Games commissioning a music group called Falsobordone to create a customized Bristol 1350 soundtrack for the game. On a more solemn note, I also decided to take the opportunity to tribute this painting to all those who have passed on during our current pandemic as well as those who passed from the black plague centuries ago. |
